Keith Butler, MD, MBA, FACEP, CEP

President, Canyon State Emergency Partners

Dr. Keith Butler is the President of Canyon State Emergency Partners (CSEP), blending deep clinical expertise with strategic business acumen. He is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician who completed his training at the University of Arizona Medical School and Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix. Concurrently, he earned an MBA in healthcare Management, establishing his career-long focus on improving the delivery of care. 

Dr. Butler has been instrumental in the formation and management of multiple ED organizations, including serving as Medical Director of the Arizona Heart Hospital ED and as a founding partner at Chandler Emergency Medical Group. Prior to co-founding CSEP, he was the CEO of Affilion, Inc., a successful ED staffing company. 

Leveraging an extensive background in IT and Six Sigma process redesign, Dr. Butler co-founded CSEP to drive innovative patient care through management and operational improvements. His core focus remains the continual improvement of patient care via strategic process innovation.

Eric Wilke, MD, ABEM

Chief Operating Officer, Canyon State Emergency Partners

Dr. Eric Wilke is the Chief Operations Officer for Canyon State Emergency Partners (CSEP), bringing extensive expertise in emergency department operations, clinical leadership, and technology development. 

Dr. Wilke completed his Emergency Medicine residency and served as Chief Resident at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, following medical school at Texas A&M. He continued at Maricopa, serving in various leadership capacities, including Chief of House Staff and Emergency Department Medical Director. 

His career has been defined by entrepreneurial formation and management. He was a founding partner of Chandler Emergency Medical Group and served as Director of Emergency Department Operations, where he pioneered the very first Medical Scribe Program in the state of Arizona. Additionally, he co-founded a medical software company focused on electronic data capture for pharmaceutical trials and was a founding member and Chief Medical Officer of Affilion, Inc. 

Joel Betz, MD, FACEP

Regional Medical Officer, Canyon State Emergency Partners

Dr. Betz brings over 20 years of clinical and leadership experience in Emergency Medicine to this position. A lifelong Arizonan, Dr. Betz is a graduate of Arizona State University and the University of Arizona School of Medicine. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix and is board-certified by the American College of Emergency Physicians. 

Dr. Betz’s leadership journey is marked by dedicated service across various hospital systems. He started his post-residency career covering Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers. He later served as an Assistant Medical Director at the Banner Gateway Emergency Department. During the acquisition and transition of Banner Payson Medical Center, he served as the Medical Director. 

Currently, Dr. Betz serves as a Regional Medical Director at CSEP, where he continues to leverage his deep operational experience to drive excellence in emergency care.

Paul McHale, MD, FACEP

Medical Director, Canyon State Emergency Partners

Dr. McHale is a board-certified Emergency Medicine Physician with over two decades of clinical, operational, and entrepreneurial experience in Arizona. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed his residency at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, where he also received specialized training in Hyperbaric Medicine. 

His career is defined by his instrumental role in shaping the ED landscape. He was a founding partner of Chandler Emergency Medical Group, which provided clinical support to Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers for over 18 years. Dr. McHale has held multiple key roles, including Medical Director at the CRMC ED, EMS Director, and Chairman of the ED. He played a crucial role in leading ER Redesign teams and implementing a Medical Scribe program. 

Beyond the hospital, he serves as a Medical Director for Air Methods Corporation and is a minority owner and Medical Director for Trinity Air Medical, a healthcare logistics company. He also contributes to the community by serving on the East Valley Community Board, including roles as Vice Chair and Chairman. 

Jason Linder, MD, ABEM

Medical Director Market Transfer Center, Canyon State Emergency Partners

Dr. Linder is a board-certified Emergency Medicine Physician who brings over 25 years of extensive clinical, teaching, and executive leadership experience to his role. 

He graduated from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and completed his residency at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ. He is dual-trained in Emergency Medicine and Hyperbaric Medicine.

Dr. Linder’s career highlights his commitment to both education and operational leadership within the Phoenix metropolitan area. He previously served as an Associate Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at Indiana University. He was a former partner in Chandler Emergency Medical Group, holding multiple leadership roles, including Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and Department Chair of Emergency Medicine at Chandler Regional Medical Center. 

Most recently, he served the medical staff at CRMC and MGMC as Vice Chief of Staff and President of the Medical Staff. He also maintains a long-term commitment to community health and preparedness, having served as the Track and Mass Gathering Physician for Phoenix International Raceway since 1998.
